Schumacher hints at contract extension

Michael Schumacher made a comment to reporters at Jerez that suggested he might remain with Mercedes beyond the end of 2012.

Espnf1.com quoted Schumacher as saying “…I don’t think we can realistically achieve a championship car from where we started last year. We have to build our way there; I’m confident we can do that in future but let’s take it step by step.”

From the quote, it looks like Schumacher is still working towards a championship challenge with Mercedes, but does not expect it to happen in 2012. If that is the case, then we can expect to see Schumacher in a Formula 1 car in 2013 and possibly beyond.
