Today is the 24th anniversary of the death of Enzo Ferrari, the man who gave his name and passion to the most famous of racing teams, Scuderia Ferrari. After racing cars himself in his youth, Ferrari eventually founded Ferrari S.p.A.in 1947, and was chairman of the company until his death on this day in 1988 at the age of 90.
Luca di Montezemolo, current Present of Ferrari, paid tribute to the legendary founder: “Enzo Ferrari was always able to look ahead, even in the most difficult situations. He realised his dream, pursuing it with determination and extraordinary passion, qualities that today are imbued in the men and women who work in the company that bears his name.”
Ferrari’s forward vision, such as it was, resulted in his company becoming synonymous with Grand Prix racing. Scuderia Ferrari has achieved more success than any other team in Formula One, and enjoys the adoration of legions of fans worldwide. It is the dream of every driver to race, and win, for Ferrari, which is a fitting indication of the remarkable legacy left by Enzo Ferrari.
